Anna Jónsdóttir fæddist 6. ágúst 1922. Dóttir Sigurlaugar Sigurðardóttur frá Hvalnesi og Jóns Pálmasonar frá Svaðastöðum. Stjúpfaðir Önnu var Gunnlaugur Björnsson frá Brimnesi. Anna ólst upp á Brimnesi hjá móður sinni og stjúpa og byggði svo nýbýlið Laufhól í Viðvíkursveit ásamt Steingrími Vilhjálmssyni manni sínum. Steingrímur og Anna eignuðust tíu börn.
