Anna Sigríður Bogadóttir fæddist á Hólum í Austur-Fljótum. Foreldrar: Bogi G. Jóhannesson og k.h. Kristrún Hallgrímsdóttir, þau bjuggu víða í Austur-Fljótum. Anna fór ung að vinna fyrir sér, fyrst á Siglufirði, síðan bæði á Akureyri og í Vestmannaeyjum. Árið 1936 tók hún saman við Jón Kjartansson frá Þverá í Hrollleifsdal. Þau hófu búskap að Sólbakka á Hofsósi og bjuggu þar síðan. Anna og Jón eignuðust þrjú börn.
