History
Árni Magnússon fæddist að Utanverðunesi í Rípurhreppi í Skagafirði 19. maí 1872, sonur Magnúsar Árnasonar og Sigurbjargar Guðmundsdóttur. Eftir uppvaxtarárin að Utanverðunesi, fór Árni til náms í Reykjavík. Þar nam hann klæðskeraiðn og vann við það um skeið. Árið 1899 hóf hann búskap að Utanverðunesi. Þaðan fluttist hann búferlum í Óslandshlíð ári seinna, en fór svo aftur að Utanverðunesi árið 1901. Hann stundaði ferjustörf á vesturósi Héraðsvatna og veiðiskap með búrekstrinum. Árið 1907 flutti hann til Sauðárkróks. Þar byggði hann sér hús við Suðurgötu 6 sem hann nefndi Nes. Þar hafði hann nokkurn búrekstur með annarri atvinnu. Þá var hann símaaðgjörðarmaður í 18 ár. Kona hans var Anna Rósa Pálsdóttir (1880-1923), þau eignuðust tvö börn. Þau voru ein af stofnendum Góðtemplara reglunnar á Sauðárkróki.
