Foreldrar: Jón Ólafsson bóndi á Völlum á Kjalarnesi og kona hans Ása Þorláksdóttir. Maki: Gunnar Eggertsson (1870-1942) bóndi á Selnesi. Þau eignuðust 2 dætur.
Bjuggu á Sævarlandi á Skaga 1895-1903 og næstu tvö árin á eftir rak Gunnar útgerð þar. Bjuggu á Selnesi 1905-1942. Gunnar brá búi öðru hverju hin síðari ár og leigði þá mest af jörðinni en var þar með fénað sinn og taldist þá húsmaður. Byggði hann bæ nær og kallaði Grund. Ástríður var lærð ljósmóðir og gegndi lengi ljósmóðurstörfum í Hvammsprestakalli. Eftir andlát Gunnars fór hún til dóttur sinnar á Bergþórshvoli og bjó þar til dánardags.
