Foreldrar: Guðjón Jónsson og Valborg Hjálmarsdóttir bændur á Tunguhálsi. Vinnuvélastjóri og vélaeigandi á Sauðárkróki, síðar starfsmaður á sláturhúsi KS á Sauðárkróki. Kvæntist Sigurlaugu Guðrúnu Gunnarsdóttur (Sillu Gunnu), þau eignuðust eina dóttur, fyrir átti Silla þrjár dætur.
