Foreldrar: Halldór Stefánsson bóndi í Stóra-Dunhaga og kona hans Lilja Daníelsdóttir. Friðbjörg missti ung foreldra sína og ólst upp hjá Sæunni, hálfsystur sinni og hennar manni. Fluttist með þeim að Sólheimum í Blönduhlíð 1898 frá Sörlatungu. Maki: Gunnlaugur Guðmundsson frá Bási í Hörgárdal. Þau eignuðust 5 börn. Þau hófu búskap í Djúpadal 1909. Á Ytri-Kotum 1910-1924, Uppsölum 1924-1925, Sólheimagerði 1925-1926, Grófargili 1926-1928, Íbishóli 1928-1933 og síðast á Bakka í Vallhólmi 1933.
