Guðrún Soffía Gunnarsdóttir fæddist í Keflavík í Hegranesi 8. október 1896. Hún var dóttir Gunnars Ólafssonar og Sigurlaugar Magnúsdóttur. Hún var ráðskona í Garði í Hegranesi, hjá bróður sínum Ólafi Gunnarssyni. Maður Guðrúnar var Páll Stefánsson (1890-1955). Þau giftust árið 1928. Fyrstu árin bjuggu þau í Ásgeirsbrekku og Enni í Viðvíkursveit en fluttu síðan til Sauðárkróks. Þar bjuggu þau á Suðurgötu 18B. Guðrún bjó á Öldustíg 5 eftir að hún missti manninn sinn.
