History
Foreldrar: Þorleifur Þorleifsson b. á Botnastöðum og k.h. Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir. Halldór ólst upp hjá foreldrum sínum til 10 ára aldurs, er hann missti þau bæði. Fluttist hann þá til Ingibjargar systur sinnar og ólst upp hjá henni og manni hennar í Axlarhaga í Blönduhlíð. Halldór bjó á eftirfarandi jörðum; Ystu Grund 1888-1892, Löngumýri í Vallhólmi 1892-1893 og Þverá í Blönduhlíð 1893-1897. Til Sauðárkróks fluttist hann 1898 og þar átti hann heima til æviloka. Þar vann hann aðalega við járnsmíði og hafði eigin smiðju. Stuttu eftir að hann flutti til Sauðárkróks, gekk hann í stúkuna "Gleym mér ei". Gerðist fljótt áhugasamur um bindindismál og starfaði mikið fyrir stúkuna og að bindindismálum. Við leiksamstarfi fékkst hann nokkuð. Um skeið var hann gæslumaður barnastúkunar " Eilífðarblómið. Halldór kvæntist Sigríði Magnúsdóttur (1868-1902) frá Utanverðunesi, þau eignuðust þrjú börn.
