Biographical history

Björn Pálsson fæddist á Kjarna, Arnarneshreppi, Eyjafirði árið 1862. Faðir hans var Páll Magnússon (1833-1874) hreppstjóri og söðlasmiður á Kjarna. Móðir hans var Hólmfríður Björnsdóttir (1835-1920), húsfreyja á Kjarna. Björn lærði vélfræði í Vesturheimi 1881-1885. Talið er að hann hafi lært ljósmyndun í Kaupmannahöfn um 1889 og stundað framhaldsnám m.a. í tinplötugerð 1893. Björn vann við ýmis verslunarstörf, kennarastörf og vélar. Rak ljósmyndastofu á Ísafirði 1891-1916. Rak útibú frá ljósmyndastofunni á Akureyri 1900-1901. Hafði jafnan starfsfólk til að sjá um rekstur stofunnar. Eiginkona hans var Kristín Snorradóttir (1868-1945), húsfreyja og eignuðust þau 13 börn.
