Dóttir Jónasar Jónassonar (1851-1900) og Önnu Elínar Kristjánsdóttur á Tjörn í Borgarsveit. Finnst ekki í Íslendingabók. Fæðingardagur mögulega rangur. Anna móðir Helgu er sögð hafa farið til Vesturheims 1902 og sennilega fór Helga með henni það ár, hvorug mæðgnanna finnst í Vesturfaraskrá.

Skagfirskar æviskrár 1890-1910 III, bls. 195 - þáttur um foreldra Helgu. Upplýsingar þar ekki réttar. Jón lést 1900 en sagður fara til Vesturheims 1905. Hið rétta er líklega að móðirin Anna Elín Kristjánsdóttir fór ein til Vesturheims með börnum sínum 1902 að undanskildum syni sínum Guðmundi Júlíusi sem fór til Vesturheims 1905.
