History
Hólmfríður var fædd og uppalin á Sauðárkróki. Foreldrar hennar voru Ólína Björg Benediktsdóttir og Jóhannes Björnsson. Hólmfríður byrjaði snemma að vinna fyrir sér. Var í vistum hjá fjölskyldum á Sauðárkróki og í síld á Siglufirði á sumrin. Árið 1930 fór hún til Akureyrar og vann þar, síðar í Reykjavík, vann þar m.a. á Vífilsstöðum. Í Reykjavík kynntist hún manni sínum, Ásgrími Sveinssyni klæðskera. Þau fluttust til Sauðárkróks árið 1937 og áttu heima þar síðan. Megnið af starfsævi sinni, eða í 28 ár, rak hún verslun á Sauðárkróki. Hólmfríður söng lengi með kirkjukór Sauðárkróks og starfaði með Kvenfélagi Sauðárkróks um margra ára skeið. Hólmfríður og Ásgrímur eignuðust tvö börn.
