Ekki er hægt að slá því föstu að um þennan Sigvalda sé að ræða, en ljóst er að hann hefur þekkt Sigurð, enda alinn upp í næsta nágrenni við Vigur. Sigvaldi var dæmdur fyrir að kveikja í húsi á Ísafirði 1908 og hefur þarna trúlega ætlað að leita aðstoðar Sigurðar, sem þá var við nám í lögfræði.
