History
Jón Jónsson var bóndi á Hofi á Höfðaströnd árin 1921-1966, kvæntur Sigurlínu Björnsdóttur og átti með henni 3 börn auk þess sem þau ólu upp 3 fóstursyni. Jón ólst upp hjá foreldrum sínum og fluttist með þeim þriggja ára gamall að Nautabúi en síðan í Eyhildarholt árið 1912. Jón var við nám í Hólaskóla veturinn 1912-1913 og á Hvanneyri 1914-1915 og lauk þaðan búfræðiprófi vorið 1915. Veturinn 1918-1919 var hann í Samvinnuskólanum, sem þá var að hefja starfsemi sína, og næstu tvö árin við ýmis störf, .m.a. á vegum Eggerts bróður sins. Jón á Hofi þótti með efnilegustu ungu mönnum í Skagafirði á yngri árum, vel íþróttum búinn, glíminn og sundmaður góður.
