History
Dóttir Ólafs Guðmundssonar sjómanns og Sigurlaugar Gísladóttur. Þórey var einkabarn og ólst upp hjá foreldrum sínum, fyrst í Húnavatnssýslu og síðar á Sauðárkróki. Þar fékk hún góða skólamenntun. Þórey kvæntist Guðmundi Björnssyni frá Veðramóti, þau bjuggu fyrst á Sauðárkróki og síðan í Tungu í Gönguskörðum 1922-1931, en það ár fluttu þau aftur til Sauðárkróks. Þórey starfaði bæði með kvenfélagi Sauðárkróks og leikfélaginu. Eins var hún handavinnukennari við barnaskólann á Sauðárkróki á árunum 1936-1945. Þórey og Guðmundur eignuðust þrjú börn.
