Rögnvaldur Þorsteinn Guðlaugur Ólafsson, eða Valdi rakari eins og hann var yfirleitt kallaður, fæddist á Siglufirði 10. desember 1919. ,,Rögnvaldur lærði hárskeraiðn á Siglufirði hjá Jónasi rakara. Hann flutti til Sauðárkróks 1946 og þar kynntist hann konu sinni Dóru Ingibjörgu Magnúsdóttur, þau eignuðust fimm börn saman, fyrir átti Rögnvaldur son. Rögnvaldur vann lengst af við rakaraiðn en einnig hjá trésmiðjunni Borg, Kaupfélagi Skagfirðinga og við önnur ýmis störf.
