Hann var við sjóróðra haust og vor og þá stundum á hákarlaskipum. Hann var bóndi á Vestara-Hóli 1889-1941. Hann var um skeið í hreppsnefnd Haganeshrepps.
Fyrri kona: Anna Helga Jónsdóttir (1863-1895), þau eignuðust fjögur börn.
Seinni kona: Halldóra Baldvinsdóttir (1872-1955), sjö af börnum þeirra komust á legg.
