Hún var dóttir hjónanna Stefáns Eiríkssonar og Svanfríðar Bjarnadóttur. ,,15 ára gömul flutti Sigríður frá Skógum í Þelamörk til Sauðárkróks til föðursystur sinnar Bjargar Eiríksdóttur og manns hennar Kristjáns Gíslasonar kaupmanns. Á Sauðárkróki kynntist hún mannsefni sínu, Eyþóri Stefánssyni og þau gengu í hjónaband 13. desember 1936, þau eignuðust eina dóttur."
