Sigurður Stefánsson, f. á Ríp í Hegranesi. Foreldrar: Stefán Stefánsson (1828-1910) síðar bóndi á Heiði í Gönguskörðum og kona hans Guðrún Sigurðardóttir (1831-1903) húsmóðir. Maki (6. júní 1884): Þórunn Bjarnadóttir (f.15.06.1855, d. 22.05.1936), þau eignuðust fjögur börn. Sigurður tók stúdentspróf frá Lærða skólanum 1879 og guðfræðipróf frá Prestaskólanum 1881. Var prestur í Ögurþingum frá 1881 til æviloka. Kosinn dómkirkjuprestur í Reykjavík 1889, en baðst undan því. Bjó í Vigur. Sýslunefndarmaður í Norður-Ísafjarðarsýslu 1884–1919. Formaður Búnaðarsambands Vestfjarða 1907–1919. Alþingismaður Ísfirðinga 1886–1900 og 1902, alþingismaður Ísafjarðar 1904–1915, alþingismaður Norður-Ísfirðinga 1917–1923. 2. varaforseti efri deildar 1909, varaforseti sameinaðs þings 1913, 1. varaforseti neðri deildar 1921.
