History
Sonur Eiríks Jónssonar og Sigríðar Hannesdóttur í Djúpadal. Fór í nám austur að Eiðum í tvo vetur og útskrifaðist hann þaðan vorið 1921. Að Eiðadvölinni lokinni hélt hann kyrru fyrir í Djúpadal og tók þar við búi ári 1923. En árið 1925 breytti hann til og brá sér við fjórða mann til Kanada. Ameríkuárin urðu rúm 30, og ævintýrin, sem Stefán sagðist hafa farið til þess að leita, sniðgengu hann svo sannarlega ekki. Þar vestra starfaði hann m.a. við ýmiskonar byggingastörf og í gullnámu. Hann kom heim fyrir fullt og allt árið 1957. Stefán kvæntist ekki en eignaðist dóttur með Kristínu Sigfúsdóttur (1893-1941).
