Sat í hreppsnefnd Staðarhrepps 1933-1966, í stjórn Búnaðarfélags Staðarhrepps 1935-1972 (formaður frá 1944), fjallskilastjóri um árabil og formaður fjallskilastjórnar Staðarafréttar og gangnastjóri í Staðarfjöllum í áratugi. Sóknarnefndarfulltrúi Reynistaðarsóknar 1941-1965 og söng í áratugi í kirkjukór Reynistaðarkirkju. Kvæntist Elinóru Lovísu Jónsdóttur frá Sauðárkróki, þau eignuðust einn son.
