Frá Sauðanesi á Upsaströnd. Var mjög vel að sér í hannyrðum og kenndi mörgum konum að koma sér upp íslenska skautbúningnum. Kvæntist Daníel Ólafssyni (1837-1894) söðlasmiði, þau bjuggu m.a. á Hofsósi, í Viðvík, í Efra-Ási, í Reykjavík, á Oddeyri við Eyjafjörð, í Hofstaðaseli og á Framnesi. Svanhildur og Daníel eignuðust fjögur börn sem upp komust.
