History
Fæddur á Mið-Grund í Blönduhlíð. Foreldrar hans voru Guðmundur Sigurðsson og Guðrún Eiríksdóttir. Valdimar ólst upp með foreldrum sínum í Ytra-Vallholti. Hann útskrifaðist frá Gagnfræðiskólanum á Möðruvöllum með 1. einkunn vorið 1897. Eftir það vann hann að búi foreldra sinna samhliða því að koma upp eigin bústofni. Jafnhliða þessu stundaði hann fyrst barna- og unglingakennslu á vetrum. Hann varð sundkennari við Steinstaðalaug. Valdimar keypti svo Skinþúfu, síðar Vallanes og var bóndi þar frá 1907-1944. Valdimar kvæntist Guðrúnu Jóhannsdóttur frá Húsabakka, þau eignuðust fjögur börn.
