History
Vilhjálmur Þ. Gíslason, f. 16.09.1897, d. 19.05.1982. Foreldrar: Þorsteinn Gíslason ritstjóri og skáld og kona hans Þórunn Pálsdóttir. Vilhjálmur ólst upp í Ryekjavík. Hann varð stúdent 1917, lagði stund á íslensk fræði og tók meistarapróf í norrænum fræðum 1923. Hann stundaði ritstörf, bæði fræðilegs efnis og skáldskap. Einnig starfaði hann við fréttamennsku og var fréttamaður útvarps. Árið 1935 varð hann bókmenntaráðunautur útvarpsins. Árið 1952 var hann skipaður útvarpsstjóri og gegndi því embætti til sjötugs.
