History
Birgitta Guðmundsdóttir, f. 01.03.1881 á Óslandi í Óslandshlíð. Foreldrar: Guðmundur Gíslason bóndi í Ártúni á Höfðaströnd og kona hans Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir. Birgitta ólst upp hjá foreldrum sínum framundir tvítugt. Maki 1: Einar Ásmundsson frá Hólkoti í Unadal. Þau eignuðust tvö börn en skildu eftir nokkurra ára sambúð. Fór þá sem ráðskona til Gísla Þorfinnssonar bónda á Hofi en 1909 í húsmennsku að Gröf á Höfðaströnd. Maki 2: Jóhann Guðmundsson, f. 24.10.1876. Þau eignuðust sex börn. Árið 1910 fór Birgitta aftur að Hofi og settist í húsmennsku með Jóni þar til þau hófu búskap að Brekkukoti 1913 og bjuggu svo þar í 25 ár.
