History
Foreldrar: Sr. Sigurður Stefánsson prestur í Vigur og Þórunn Bjarnadóttir húsfreyja. Bjarni fór ungur til náms í Flensborgarskóla og lauk þaðan prófi 1907 en sneri aftur heim í Vigur að námi loknu og bjó þar alla tíð síðan. Hann var bóndi þar til tveir synir hans tóku við búi á 6. áratugnum en þau hjónin bjuggu áfram í Vigur. Hann var oddviti hreppsnefndar 1924—1962. Sýslunefndarmaður 1925—1962. Hreppstjóri Ögurhrepps frá 1936. Form. Búnaðarfélags Ögurhrepps 1921—1961 og fulltrúi á fundum Búnaðarsambands Vestfjarða 1923—1961. Í sáttanefnd frá 1926. í stjórn Formannasjóðs N.-Is. í 22 ár. Fulltrúi N.-Ís. á fundum Stéttarsambands bænda 1947—1956. Í stjórn Djúpbátsins h/f frá 1947. Hann var organisti í Ögurkirkju um 20 ára skeið. Maki: Björg Björnsdóttir frá Veðramóti í Gönguskörðum. Þau eignuðust 6 börn.
