Byggingarnefnd Sauðárhrepps tók til starfa þegar Sauðárhreppur var stofnaður og starfaði fram til ársins 1947, en þá fékk Sauðárkrókur kaupstaðarréttindi og í kjölfar nýrrar bæjarstjórnar var stofnuð byggingarnefnd Sauðárkróks.
