History
Elísabet fæddist í Jórvík í Breiðdal. Hún ólst upp með föður sínum, Stefáni Jóhannessyni og seinni konu hans Bergþóru Jónsdóttur. Hún lærði karlafatasaum í Reykjavík hjá klæðskera og starfaði um skeið á Hótel Íslandi við framreiðslustörf og matargerð. Elísabet starfaði mikið í Kvenfélagi Skefilsstaðahrepps og var formaður þess um skeið. Elísabet var kvænt Lúðvíki Kemp vegaverkstjóra, þau bjuggu lengst af á Illugastöðum í Laxárdal. Þau eignuðust níu börn og ólu einnig upp hálfbróður Lúðvíks.
