Ásgrímur Hartmannsson fæddist í Kolkuósi í Skagafirði þann 13. júlí 1911. Hann var bæjarstjóri, kaupmaður og framkvæmdastjóri á Ólafsfirði.
Kona hans var Helga Jónína Sigurðardóttir (1917-2005).
Ásgrímur lést á Ólafsfirði 13. ágúst 2001.
