Guðný Klara Lárusdóttir fæddist í Skarði í Gönguskörðum í Skagafjarðarsýslu 25. ágúst 1906. Foreldrar hennar voru hjónin Lárus Jón Stefánsson b. á Skarði og s.k.h. Sigríður Björg Sveinsdóttir. ,,Klara ólst upp hjá foreldrum sínum í Skarði. Hún var búsett á Sauðárkróki og í Skarði á árunum 1929-1938, í Ytri-Njarðvík 1938-1939, í Keflavík 1939-1983 og á Sauðárkróki 1983 til æviloka." Hinn 16. desember 1933 giftist Klara Guðmundi Halldórssyni, f. 18. ágúst 1904 á Eldjárnsstöðum í Blöndudal, þau eignuðust einn son.
