Jón Hallsson Ísleifsson, f. að Hvammi í Laxárdal 29.08.1880, d. 31.05.1954. Foreldrar: Ísleifur Einarsson (1833-1895) og Seeselja Jónsdóttir. Jón lauk stúdentsprófi í Reykjavík árið 1900. Hóf þá verkfræðinám, fyrst í Kaupamannahöfn en síðan við verkfræðiskólann í Þrándheimi og lauk prófi þaðan árið 1911. Að prófi loknu tók hann að sér ýmis verkfræðistörf.
