Brynleifur Sigurjónsson fæddist á Gili í Svartárdal 20. desember 1917. Foreldrar hans voru Sigrún Tobíasdóttir húsfreyja og Sigurjón Helgason, bóndi í Geldingaholti, þar sem Brynleifur ólst upp. ,,Í lok desember 1955 giftist Brynleifur Öldu Gísladóttur en þau höfðu þá verið trúlofuð og búið saman í áratug. Þau bjuggu lengst á Laufásvegi 27 í Reykjavík en fluttu um aldamótin á Skúlagötu 40. Þau voru barnlaus. Brynleifur starfaði sem flutningabílstjóri og leigubílstjóri, m.a. á Hreyfli."
