Gunnfríður Ingibjörg Björnsdóttir fæddist á Stóru-Ökrum í Blönduhlíð 29. febrúar 1920. Foreldrar hennar voru hjónin Björn Sigurðsson bóndi á Stóru-Ökrum og Sigríður Gunnarsdóttir húsfreyja. Þau voru bæði fædd í Syðra-Vallholti. Gunnfríður giftist hinn 26. maí 1943 Hólmsteini S. Jóhannessyni bónda á Þorleifsstöðum, þau eignuðust fjögur börn og bjuggu á Þorleifsstöðum.
