Ingunn Björnsdóttir fæddist á Stóru-Ökrum 18. júlí 1922. Foreldrar hennar voru Sigríður Gunnarsdóttir húsfreyja á Stóru-Ökrum og Björn Sigurðsson bóndi og símstöðvarstjóri þar. ,,Maður Ingunnar var Geir Axelsson, þau bjuggu fyrstu árin í Bakkaseli en Björn faðir Ingunnar rak þar greiðasölu. Fluttu þau síðan að Hrólfsstöðum þar sem þau bjuggu í 8 ár, eða þar til þau eignuðust jarðirnar Litladal og Brekkukot en þar bjuggu þau þar til þau fluttu á Sauðárkrók árið 1982.." Ingunn og Geir eignuðust sjö börn.
