Biographical history

Hallgrímur Einarsson var fæddur á Akureyri árið 1878. Faðir hans var Einar Hallgrímsson Thorlacius (1846-1926), verslunarstjóri á Vestdalseyri við Seyðisfjörð, N.-Múlasýslu og síðar kaupmaður á Vopnafirði. Móðir hans var Vilhelmína Pálsdóttir (1847-1921), húsfreyja. Hallgrímur lærði ljósmyndun hjá Christian Christiansen í Kaupmannahöfn 1894-1895. Hann rak ljósmyndastofu á Vestdalseyri, Seyðisfirði, 1895-1901. Starfaði sem ljósmyndari á Akureyri frá 1901 og rak sína eigin ljósmyndastofu frá 1903 til dánardægurs, ýmist einn eða í félagi með öðrum. Rak einnig verslun með ljósmyndavörur.
