Biographical history
Helgi Jónsson, f. 31.01.1877 á Þröm í Blöndudal. Foreldrar: Jón Davíðsson og Steinunn Jónsdóttir. Helgi ólst upp hjá foreldrum sínum á Þröm. Maki: Þóra Kristjánsdóttir frá Hafgrímsstöðum í Lýtingsstaðahreppi. Þau bjuggu fyrstu tvö árin á Þröm en síðan á Hafgrímsstöðum. Þar lést Þóra 1903, viku eftir fæðingu níunda barns þeirra. Síðar bjó Helgi þrjú ár í Stapa en frá fardögum 1923 í Merkigarði og hafði látið af búskap tveimur árum áður en hann dó. Ráðskona hans í Merkigarði var Ingigerður Halldórsdóttir. Helgi var lengi formaður Lestrarfélags Mælifellssóknar. Hann átti lengi sæti í sveitarstjórn.
