History
Árið 1918, 24.nóv komu menn saman í Þinghúsi Fellshrepps í því tilefni að reyna að stofna lestrarfélag í sveitinni. Til fundarins hafði boðað Friðrik Guðmundsson á Bræðraá. Fyrstu starfsmenn Friðrik Guðmundsson Bræðraá, Jóhann Jónsson Glæsibæ, Eiður Sigurjónsson Skálá. Tilgangur félagsins er að auka fróðleik og lestrarfýsn í sveitinni. Fram kemur í gjörðabók að 22. des.1956 brann íbúðarhúsið á Skálá en þar voru bækur félagssins geymdar. Alls brunnu 670 bindi og tveir bókaskápar. Safnið var brunatryggt.
