History
Fædd og uppalin í Djúpadal, dóttir Eiríks hreppstjóra í Djúpadal og k.h. Hólmfríðar Jónsdóttur. Kvæntist Jóni Jónssyni (1832-1897), þau hófu búskap í Djúpadal 1856, fluttu að Saurbæ í Hörgárdal 1861 og bjuggu þar í eitt ár, fluttu aftur að Djúpadal vorið 1862 þar sem Valgerður hélt búi til 1898. Valgerður og Jón eignuðust 11 börn, þrjú þeirra náðu fullorðinsaldri.
