Benedikt er skráður sem tökubarn á Barkarstöðum, A-Húnavatnssýslu í manntalinu 1835, þá 2 ára. Í manntalinu 1840 er hann skráður til heimilis hjá föður sínum í Steinárgerði, A-Húnavatnssýslu.
