Fæddur að Varmalandi. Foreldrar. Jón Ingimundarson bóndi á Varmalandi og kona hans María Gamalíelsdóttir. Einar ólst upp með foreldrum sínum, vann að búi þeirra og sótti sjó á Reykjaströnd og við Drangey. Hann fékk ábúð á Varmalandi er foreldrar hans brugðu búi 1904 og bjó þar til æviloka.
Maki: Rósa Gísladóttir (1869-1962). Þau eignuðust 4 börn en fyrir átti Rósa eitt barn.
