Guðbrandur Þór Jónsson fæddur 12.12.1930 í Saurbæ í Fljótum í Skagafirði, ólst þar upp og bjó þar lengst af. Foreldrar Guðbrands hétu Jón Guðbrandsson og Guðbjörg Margrét Jónsdóttir og voru bændur í Saurbæ. Þór vann sem sveitapóstur og minka veiðimaður, samhliða bústörfum. Búsettur á Siglufirði.
