History
Jóhann Sigurjónsson fæddist á Bessastöðum í Sæmundarhlíð 16. júní 1896. Hann ólst upp í foreldrahúsum á bæjunum Þröm á Langholti og Bessastöðum. Jón kvæntist Lovísu Guðmundsdóttur frá Ási í Hegranesi árið 1924. Þau fluttu að Ási 1924 og reistu þar bú í tvíbýli við foreldra Lovísu, árið 1938 tóku þau hjónin svo við þeirra hlut. Jón var organisti við Hofsstaðakirkju í 20 ár og einnig lengi við Rípurkirkju. Hann sat lengi í sóknarnefnd Rípurkirkju, fjallskilastjórn og stjórn sjúkrasamlags, deildarstjóri Rípurdeildar K.S. var hann í áratug. Hann sat í hreppsnefnd um 20 ára skeið og jafnframt gjaldkeri sveitarsjóðs; hreppstjóri frá 1962 til dauðadags.
