History
Fæddur á Skíðastöðum í Laxárdal. Foreldrar: Gunnar Gunnarsson hreppstjóri á Skíðastöðum og k.h. Ingibjörg Björnsdóttir. Sigurður ólst upp hjá foreldrum sínum á Skíðastöðum. Bóndi á Hafragili 1863-1865. Kvæntist árið 1867 Sigríði Gísladóttur, þau eignuðust tólf börn og bjuggu á Fossi á Skaga frá 1865. Sigurður var hreppstjóri Skefilsstaðahrepps 1872-1875.
Sigurður lést árið 1909 úr taugaveiki, sama ár létust einnig tvær dætur hans úr sama sjúkdómi.
