History
Fæddur og uppalinn á Höfnum á Skagaströnd. Stúdent úr Lærða skólanum í Reykjavík 1885, cand. theol. frá Prestaskólanum í Reykjavík 1887 og vígðist Reynistaðarklaustursprestakalls það sama ár. Gegndi hann því prestakalli um 26 ára skeið. Hann hóf búskap á prestssetrinu Fagranesi árið 1889 og nytjaði það að meira eða minna leyti flest prestskaparár sín, en flutti til Sauðárkróks árið 1894, enda hafði prestsetrið verið flutt þangað með lögum frá 1891og kirkja reist þar 1892. Hann var prófastur Skagfirðinga 1908-1913, sýslunefndarmaður í Skagafjarðarsýslu fyrir Sauðárkrók 1906-1913. Tók einnig mikinn þátt í starfi Góðtemplarareglunnar. Sumarið 1913 fékk hann Garða á Álftanesi, þar þjónaði hann í 19 ár. Var einnig prófastur Kjalarnessprófastsdæmis frá 1916 til dauðadags og sýslunefndarmaður í Gullbringusýslu. Bjó síðustu þrjú árin í Hafnarfirði.
Maki: Líney Sigurjónsdóttir frá Laxamýri í Aðaldal, þau eignuðust 12 börn.
