Lestrarfélag Óslandshlíðar var stofnað 29. apríl 1913 á Hlíðarhúsi og voru stofnendur 11. Lögð voru fyrir fundinn lög félagins og þau samþykkt.
Þann 31.mai.1957 varð tillaga um að bókasafn Lestrarfélags Óshlíðar muni sameinast í Lestrarfélag Hofshrepps. Tillaga þessi var samþykkt.
