Biographical history
Faðir: Arnór Egilsson bóndi og ljósmyndari (1856-1900). Móðir: Valgerður Ósk Ólafsdóttir, húsfreyja (1857-1933). Halldór Egill Arnórsson lærði ljósmyndun hjá Hallgrími Einarssyni á Akureyri fyrir 1909. Rak ljósmyndastofu á Akureyri 1909-1918. Ferðaðist einnig og tók myndir t.d. á Siglufirði 1919. Starfaði hjá eða vann með Hallgrími Einarssyni a.m.k. á tímabilinu 1920-1924 (myndir merktar þeim báðum). Starfaði hjá Guðmundi R. Trjámannssyni 1924-1925. Starfi á ljósmyndastofu Jóns J. Dahlmanns í Reykjavík frá um 1927 til um 1938 en þá fór hann að starfa á ljósmyndastofu Vigfúsar Sigurgeirssonar í Reykjavík og var þar til dauðadags.
Hluti af filmu- og plötusafni hans er varðveitt í Þjóðminjasafni Íslands (Reykjavíkurárin).
