History
Foreldrar: Björn Björnsson og Guðbjörg Guðjónsdóttir. Jón ólst upp með foreldrum sínum, sem komu úr Svarfaðardal til Skagafjarðar árið 1903 og settust að á Hrappstöðum (nú Hlíð) í Hjaltadal. Árið 1908 fluttu þau búferlum að Unastöðum í Kolbeinsdal og bjuggu þar til 1915. Vorið 1910 réðst Jón til vinnu á Hólum við fjós- og hlöðubyggingu og komst um haustið í skólann, þar sem hann lauk búfræðiprófi vorið 1912. Sumarið milli námsvetranna vann hann í gróðrastöðinni á Hólum. Árið 1915 hóf Jón störf hjá Kristni Briem kaupmanni á Sauðárkróki og starfaði þar í 23 ár eða til 1938. Eftir það tók hann að sér deildarstjórastöðu í Ytribúðinni / Gránu þar sem hann starfaði samfleytt í 32 ár eða til ársins 1970.
Jón kvæntist Unni Magnúsdóttur, þau eignuðust fimm börn.
