History
Foreldrar: Jón Sigurðsson síðast b. í Málmey og Guðrún Sigurðardóttir. Jón missti móður sína árið 1853 og mun eftir það hafa alist upp á hrakningum. Var svo lengi vinnumaður hjá Jósef bónda á Hjallalandi í Vatnsdal. Reisti bú að Hólabaki í Þingi 1882. Flutti til Skagafjarðar 1884. Bóndi á Kimbastöðum 1884-1886, Húsabakka 1886-1888, Heiði í Gönguskörðum 1888-1909 og Kimbastöðum aftur 1909-1915. Jón var um árabil einn af tíundarhæstu bændum í hinum forna Sauðárhreppi. Jón var einnig smáskammtalæknir. Kvæntist Jósefínu Ólafsdóttur, þau eignuðust átta börn. Jón eignaðist son utan hjónabands með Björg Stefánsdóttur á Steini á Reykjaströnd.
