Margrét Anna Sigurðardóttir fæddist árið 1871. Foreldrar: Sigurður Stefánsson og Guðbjörg Pétursdóttir bændur í Garðshorni á Höfðaströnd. Kvæntist Helga Péturssyni frá Fjalli í Sléttuhlíð, þau eignuðust átta börn. Þau bjuggu á Garðshorni 1897-1898, á hluta af Hofi á Höfðaströnd 1898-1901, á Spáná í Unadal 1901-1902, Geirmundarhóli í Hrollleifsdal 1902-1910 og á Kappastöðum í Sléttuhlíð 1910-1915. Eftir það voru þau meira og minna búsett hjá Vilhelmínu dóttur sinni á Hamri í Hegranesi.
