Biographical history

Ólafur Magnússon fæddist á Akranesi árið 1889. Faðir hans var Magnús Ólafsson (1862-1937), ljósmyndari í Reykjavík. Móðir hans var Guðrún Jónsdóttir (1862-1926), húsfreyja. Ólafur lærði ljósmyndun hjá föður sínum fyrir 1908 en var í framhaldsnámi hjá Sophus Junker Jensen í Kaupmannahöfn og í Berlín 1911-1913. Vann sem ljósmyndari hjá Pétri Brynjólfssyni í Reykjavík um tíma fyrir 1911. Rak ljósmyndastofu í Reykjavík frá 1913 til 1954. Maki Ólafs var Guðrún Árnadóttir (1915-1993). Ólafur dó árið 1954.
