Ávarp flutt við óþekkt tilefni, sennilega við endurbætur á sundlauginni í Varmahlíð 1989. Rætt er um sundiðkun og keppni í héraðinu og lagt til að Grettisbikarinn verði nú tekinn úr umferð enda sé búið að keppa um hann í 50 ár. Það gefur til kynna að ávarpið hafi verið flutt 1989 en Grettisbikarinn var afhentur sundlauginni í Varmahlíð 1939.
